Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data China Trader Online collects through chinatraderonline.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It applies to enquiries, quotations and orders placed through this website, by e-mail or by any other channel that refers to this policy.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is China Trader Online, a China-based wholesale supplier and sourcing partner operating chinatraderonline.com from Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. For any question about this policy or about your personal data, write to [email protected]. We answer data requests within 30 days.
What we collect
- Enquiry details — the name, company, country, e-mail address, phone number, product interest and message you type into an enquiry or contact form.
- Order details — delivery address, contact person, phone number, order lines, artwork files and any specification you send us to produce or ship an order.
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and the time of the visit, collected in server logs and, where enabled, aggregate traffic statistics.
- Correspondence — the content of e-mails, quotations, proofs and messages exchanged with our sales team.
We do not ask for card numbers on this website. Payments are arranged by bank transfer, letter of credit or an agreed payment provider, and card details are entered on the provider's own page, never in a form on this site.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quotation — legitimate interest in responding to business requests, and steps taken at your request before a contract.
- To produce, ship and invoice an order — performance of the contract, plus legal obligations on invoicing and export records.
- To keep the site secure and working — legitimate interest in preventing abuse, spam and fraud, including the human-verification check on our forms.
- To measure traffic and improve pages — consent, where cookies or analytics that are not strictly necessary are used.
- To send product updates — consent, or legitimate interest where you are an existing business contact, and always with an unsubscribe route.
Who we share it with
- Factories and suppliers that make your goods — only the specification needed to produce the order.
- Freight forwarders, couriers and warehouses that move or store the shipment — name, address, phone number and order reference.
- Payment and banking providers that process an agreed payment.
- Hosting and e-mail providers that run this website and our mailbox.
- Authorities, where disclosure is required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Suppliers and service providers act on our instructions and are not allowed to use your data for their own marketing.
International transfers
We operate from China, so enquiries and orders are processed there. If you contact us from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another region with transfer restrictions, the transfer is either necessary to take steps at your request before a contract or to perform the contract, or covered by contractual safeguards with the parties that handle the data. You can ask us for details of those safeguards using the contact address above.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and quotations are kept for up to 24 months after the last contact, so that a repeat order can be quoted against the same specification. Order, shipping and invoice records are kept for the period required by tax and export law. Server logs are kept for a short operational window. When a retention period ends, the data is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Where the GDPR, the UK GDPR or a comparable law applies, you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold your data and give you a copy (access);
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete (rectification);
- delete data we no longer need (erasure);
- restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing (restriction and objection);
- receive your data in a portable format (portability);
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
You also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. We would rather solve it with you first, so please write to [email protected].
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
In the past twelve months we have collected the following categories of personal information from business contacts: identifiers (name, e-mail, phone, company), commercial information (products enquired about or ordered), and internet activity (pages viewed, IP address). We collect them for the business purposes described above. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no sale to opt out of.
California residents have the right to know what is collected and to whom it is disclosed, to delete it, to correct it, to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect sensitive personal information for this purpose), and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. You may use an authorised agent; we may ask for verification of identity before acting. Requests go to [email protected], and we respond within 45 days.
Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies and similar storage: strictly necessary ones that keep a page working and remember your language choice, and, where enabled, aggregate traffic measurement. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; strictly necessary ones may then stop parts of the site from working. Because we do not sell or share personal data for advertising, no opt-out cookie is required, and Global Privacy Control signals are honoured as a no-sale preference.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiry and order records is limited to staff who need it, and forms are protected by a human-verification check and spam filtering. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these steps to protect what you send us.
Children
This is a business-to-business site. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices change. The current version applies from October 2026. Material changes will be announced on this page, and the effective date at the top of the policy will change.
